100 Years of Unity, Heritage, and Forward Vision
Keng Yai Choo Tee Clan is one of the oldest Chinese clan associations in Singapore, proudly established in 1925. For over a century, we have upheld the enduring values of love, unity, resilience, and mutual support—principles that guided our Hainanese ancestors when they first arrived on this island.
Our founding forefathers came from various parts of Hainan Island—Wenchang, Qionghai, Ding’an and beyond—facing hardship and uncertainty as they settled in a new land. What they built together was more than just a shelter; it was a home, a hub, and a heritage that has withstood the test of time.
As we enter our 100th year, we honour the legacy of those who came before us while preparing the path for those who will follow.
Leading into the next Century
In 2024, a new leadership committee was formed, ensuring the continuity of our mission and breathing new life into the clan’s activities. With a vibrant calendar of events led by passionate new members, we are reigniting the spirit of connection, culture, and community.
Today, Keng Yai Choo Tee Clan continues to bring together descendants of the Choo (朱) family from Hainan Island, fostering a strong sense of identity, belonging, and pride. Our story is still being written—and we welcome you to be part of it.
Our Chairman, Choo Shing Shen (朱兴燊)
Danny Choo stands as one of the youngest chairpersons among Chinese cultural and ancestry clans in Singapore—marking a new chapter in Keng Yai Choo Tee Clan’s century-long journey.
Raised in the clan community by his late father, Danny grew up immersed in the values, stories, and people that shaped our foundation. Inspired by his father’s lifelong dedication, Danny began contributing from a young age, dedicating the bulk of his adulthood to serving the clan and its members.
Today, he carries forward not just the responsibilities of leadership—but also the heartfelt wish of his father—to keep the clan alive, united, and evolving with the times. As the youngest leader in our history, Danny brings a fresh perspective, modern energy, and unwavering respect for tradition, ensuring that our clan remains a thriving, connected family for generations to come.
